Doherty has been working with Cornerstone VNA for the past 5 years, and has developed a successful Palliative Care program, which offically launched in September 2014.  The Palliative Care program at Cornerstone VNA provides specialized medical care for those experiencing the pain and anxiety of a complex illness.  In addition to the Palliative Care program, Doherty has helped to grow the Hospice program, which is now the largest nonprofit hospice provider in the area.  In 2016, she was recognized with the prestigious Ira Byock and Yvonne Corbeil Award for her work in Palliative Care and in 2017 she received the Rotary Club of Portsmouth’s Vocational Award for Health and Human Services.

“I feel fortunate to work for an organization that consistently puts the needs of the community first by developing new and innovative programs, like our Palliative Care program,” states Kelly Doherty.  Doherty adds, “I am proud to share that I am one of only twenty certified palliative care nurse practitioners in the State of New Hampshire.”

According to Julie Reynolds, RN, MS, Chief Executive Officer, “We are very proud of Kelly’s achievements and we are very fortunate to have her on our team.”  Reynolds adds, “We have seen significant growth in our Palliative Care and Hospice services, which is a result of her leadership and passion in the work that we do at Cornerstone VNA.”
