Nurses Week 2020

National Nurses Week begins each year on May 6th and ends on May 12th, which is Florence Nightingale’s birthday. The theme for National Nurses Week this year is Compassion, Expertise and Trust. It is a time to honor our nurses for always for going above and beyond.

Interesting fact during this pandemic: At the end of the 19th century, “The Lady With the Lamp”, or as she is more widely known, Florence Nightingale, founded modern nursing. Thanks to her strict use of hand-washing and hygiene practices while caring for wounded soldiers in the Crimean War, Nightingale and her helpers reduced the death rate from 42% to 2%, ushering in nursing as we know it today.

On May 6, we recognize the important role nurses play in our lives by celebrating National Nurses Day. We are so proud of our nurses and the amazing and compassionate work they do every day! According to our CEO, Julie Reynolds, RN, MS, “This week we celebrate our nurses! I am thankful to all of our LNAs, LPNs and RNs for being there for our patients. Their passion for our patient’s health is appreciated every day as well as the great care they provide to our patients!

The world is a different place and the impact of COVID-19 on our lives seems to change on a daily basis.  Our nurses are on the front lines, and are dedicated to providing exceptional care and support to patients and families. This is the most challenging time we have ever faced, but we are so impressed by our team’s response as we navigate this health crisis. Our nurses are compassionate. Our nurses are experts. And you can trust that our nurses will take great care of you and your loved ones if the need arises!

Join us in celebrating all nurses for the excellent care they provide each and every day!
