November is National Family Caregivers Month

At Cornerstone VNA, we believe in providing education, resources and support for our family caregivers. We have created a special page on our website with a list of caregiver self-care resources, we host a monthly virtual Caregiver Café (fourth Wednesday of the month at 10:30), and also publish a quarterly newsletter for caregivers called Caregiver Connection.

We recognize that providing care to someone special is both rewarding and challenging, and we want you to know that we are here for you and that you are not alone in your caregiving journey.  Our goal is to help you stay well, stay informed, and stay connected.

According to Sandy Powers, RN, Life Care Certified Holistic Wellness Coach, “Seasons in our lives are temporary. Nothing is ever static. Whatever you are going through, it will eventually pass. Try to look at it as a bump in the road. There are good seasons as well as bad. Life moves on … This all reminds me of the song Turn! Turn! Turn! by The Byrds. If you haven’t heard it, have a listen.”

If you are in a challenging season right now, try journaling these questions:

  • What season am I currently in?
  • Has it shaped my character?
  • Has it strengthened my character?
  • Has it enriched my experience of life?

Our Life Care Department is here to help and their staff is available to support you and your loved one. According to Hydi Prentice, Life Care Personal Care Service Provider, “I enjoy what I do. This job has allowed me to meet a lot of really nice people. It’s self-rewarding for me to help other people. I didn’t realized how many people out there really need some help and I can provide that with the training I’ve had here at Cornerstone VNA.”

Lynne Gauron, Cornerstone VNA’s Licensed Nursing Assistant of the Year possesses great knowledge in her field. Licensed Nursing Assistants, like Lynne Gauron, provide basic patient care and assist with nursing procedures and often help with “activities of daily living,” including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and assistance with self-administration of medicine. For seniors and adults with disabilities, LNAs are often the unsung heroes who provide the care needed to help individuals age in place in their homes.

Join our Caregiver Cafe, currently held online, every 4th Wednesday of the Month at 10:30.

A member of our team can meet with you to discuss available services and options, whether you need them now or you just want information to plan ahead.
