This year, we are kicking off our “Above and Beyond” Awards. Each Quarter, this award will be given to a staff member who has been nominated by our patients, families or community members. The “Above and Beyond” award celebrates team members who go above and beyond in providing exceptional care and support, and who have exceeded patient or client expectations.
We are pleased to congratulate Michelle Dow, Homemaker in our Life Care – Private Duty Program, who recently received our inaugural “Above and Beyond” Award.
According to Janice Howard, Life Care Director, “Michelle takes the time to provide her patients with quality visits. She not only helps them support a clean and safe environment, but through her positive outlook, and importance to listening to their concerns she also helps in meeting their emotional needs. She plays a significant role in helping her patients stay in their own homes as long as possible. Michelle has recently become a preceptor. She provides support, and guidance to help staff transition from “student” to a confident Homemaker.
In addition to her care for, and concern for her patients’ well-being, she is a member of the New Hampshire Alliance for Healthy Aging Direct Care Workforce Council. She uses her experience and knowledge to help raise awareness and improve the quality of direct care workforce positions in New Hampshire.”
Sue Adjutant, Life Care Assistant Director added, “Working with Michelle is a wonderful experience, her calm easy-going manner helps patients feel at ease when she is with them. You can tell that her patients are her top priority. When she walks into a room, she brings a sense of calm. There are times when she has come into my office and that is how she made me feel, so I know that she does that for her patients.
As a Homemaker, you have a lot of different chores to do for patients and she does them all with a smile. She will change her schedule to accommodate her patients, but she also has a balance between her job and her home life. When you ask her to do something other than a homemaking job, she does not hesitate to step up. She has been an added asset to Cornerstone VNA since being hired. Thank you, Michelle, for being you.”
Congratulations, Michelle, on receiving the 1st Quarter Above and Beyond Award!
Our Above and Beyond program allows our patients to celebrate exceptional staff members by sending a special note, nominating them for the Above and Beyond award, or making a donation in their honor.
